About Us

Welcome to my website, please be patient, it's a work in progress.

I am a photographer located in the Green Bay suburb of Allouez in Northeastern Wisconsin. I started my love for photography in a unique manner. I have been an enthusiast of astronomy and in a desire to photograph the planets and the moon I decided to purchase a digital camera back in the late 1990's. I started with a great little 4 megapixel camera, the Nikon Coolpix 880. Soon I was photographing Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and the moon with good results. After a couple years I replaced the camera with another digital camera, the Fuji S7000 sometime in 2000 or 2001. It had 6 megapixels and was more single lens reflex (SLR) like than the Coolpix and had an ability to save a file in RAW, an uncompressed digital format. I began experimenting with long exposure astrophotography using the camera's bulb setting of up to 30 seconds. I bought and sold many telescopes and tripods in my time in astronomy. In about 2001 I also purchased a basic 35mm SLR, the Pentax K1000. The camera was fully manual and came with a 50mm lens. I enjoyed taking photos with it but I understood little of white balance and metering. It was sold a short while later and so was the Fuji. I replaced it with a Olympus E300 sometime later, then changed that to a Canon 350D, aka, Rebel XT.

I entered the world of stock photography in October 2006 with Shutterstock after my brother suggested I try selling stock. He had purchased some lunar and star images of mine for an advertisement he was creating. I had never heard of stock photography prior to then and was intrigued. I started with Shutterstock and was accepted my first try, getting 7 of 10 images approved. One of my first images was a shot of a tent setup in a campsite in the Nicolet National Forest. It has gone on to be a good seller and has arned nearly $60. I've since had a couple camera upgrades, first to a Canon EOS 30d and then to the wonderful Canon EOS 5D, and hopefully soon to the 5D II. I've also had countless lens changes over the years, too many to even recall. Now I own a very nice portrait set of lenses, all primes - Canon EF 35mm f/2, Sigma EX DG 50mm f/1.4, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 and Canon EF 135mm f/2L. The lenses are all very sharp and work perfectly in my studio and for on location shooting. I now concentrate my time in portrait and glamour photography. I enjoy working with area models and have found many willing and beautiful people within a 25 mile radius. The most shot person in my stock portfolio just may be my son. He was first photographed and added to my stock portfolios shortly after his birth when he was a mere twelve hours old. It has been a consistent seller as he was very little at just 4 lbs 10 oz.

My studio is located in a nicely finished walkout basement in my Allouez home. My light setup is portable and easy to move for event shooting, product shooting, and home or office portraiture. Thanks for visiting.
